The Benefits Of Sports Wrapping For People Recovering From Injury

Injury is a threat that faces everyone who plays sports. There are many things you can do to lessen this risk, including; suitable warm up and cool down, education about the correct techniques and propper protective equipment.

This article looks at Sports Strapping and Wrapping.

Nigel Coates from Mermaid Beach massage says, “The main purpose of strapping any part of the body is to prevent injury, or to provide support for an existing injury. Taping a joint makes this possible as it restricts movement, while providing support for tendons and ligaments.”

Injuries fall into one of three categories; Direct, Indirect or Overuse.

Direct Injuries occur because of contact with another player, with an object (like a hockey stick), or with the ground.

Indirect Injuries occur suddenly, without contact. Pulling a hamstring while running 100 meters is an example of this.

Overuse Injuries occur because of a continual impact on a tendon or bone. Shin splints often occur in long distance runners.

Many of these injuries can be assisted by Sports Strapping. Kirra massage has many clients they see before they play sport. Taping can be of benefit to muscle strains or tears, bruising, ligament sprains or tears, broken bones, and dislocations and subluxations.

Before Strapping a Joint it is recommended to wet shave the area 12 hours before you intend to strap it. The skin should be clean of all oil and sweat for better adhesion. A non-stick wound pad is required if there is any broken skin or rashes present, and under wrap for people who have sensitive skin.

When you strap a joint it should be placed in its natural anatomical position. Flexing the muscle as tape is applied can help to achieve the correct tension. Each layer of tape should overlap the layer preceding it. The amount of tape you use is directly related to the support it will provide. Too little tape will be unstable and too much tape can limit movement too much.

If the tape is too tight it can cut the blood supply to the area. It is suggested to pinch the skin below the strapping for a few seconds, and ensuring it returns to its natural color quickly. If it feels too tight, start over.

Immediately remove the strapping after your activity. It is more natural for the joint to recover on its own.

Beyond Loss And Delusion

This is a subject we do not like to talk about and rightfully so, especially if it is ours. This is quite normal I think, and talking about it does not change it. Taking steps to overcome the dead emotions which failure sometimes brings must be dealt with for us to recover and get back on the road to success “after failure”.

Everybody makes errors and fails at sometimes in their life. If they tell you they have never had “failure”, they are telling a big one, I think. It is a characteristic aspect of life and it isn’t going to change. It does not have to be anything big or detrimental to living a good life, but if we are human, we can look back and see some places, we could have done a whole lot better.

Sometimes we make wrong decisions because we gave up on something before we gave it time to work. We fail sometimes because we look at others and what they have done, not realizing that we cannot compare our own life’s work to anybody; we must strive for our own way of and pursuing life things. Anything we do in life must have a plan, a starting point, a progression period and then the final results. Personal Growthis something that we all need at some point in our life. Sometimes we must change our path during our progress and that is why we do an assessment every now and then. Take for instance a marriage. When we get married, we have a plan to work at it, make it beautiful, and feed it with passion and know it takes some give and take. Yet so many times we forget ,we get busy with other life things and forget to feed it, we forget it needs care, sometimes more later, than sooner. What do you know; somebody is unhappy out the blue. Sometimes it is too late, sometimes it can be fixed and sometimes it seems too much neglect was the final draw and we have to deal with what we call “failure”

Someone who is lazy and doesn’t want to work for what they get…could be called a failure. Life is not going to just supply any of us anything. It doesn’t work that way. We must work for our , as nothing is free. An addiction is another aspect we can call failure; it doesn’t have to be drugs or alcohol. It can be spending too much money; it can be spending too much time on the job. It can be taking too much time off the job, you know; sick days; too many of them; all of a sudden, no job. It can be giving someone else a hard time and not having respect for our fellow man. Whatever it is named; if it is done often can be called failure…we can overcome it and “live again” if we take thought to our needs. In our Change we need to look at all aspects of our situation and not get too down on ourselves.

How do we begin to get our life on tract after failure? When it happens we have to really analyze if it is truly “failure”. Sometimes mistakes get named failure. If we keep doing something over and over and it winds up costing us great repercussions it is likely failure and not just a mistake. A mistake is something you did unintentionally and you normally do not do it again. We learn from our mistakes and take them as part of life to help us grow. If we repeatedly do something it is time for us to get a professional to help us find out why we are duplicating the same things over and over before it cost us too much.

To me and I am not giving you professional therapy, you must seek that yourself, but I am giving you hope that there is help and I have seen healing for our failures through personal growthif we want it. To me, failure is where one has repeatedly doing something that they knew was causing themselves harm or someone else and they do it anyway. There is still a way to begin again. There is always hope until we die and we can be healed of our failures and become new again. There are Therapist, Counselors and Psychologists who are trained to help us in our endeavors as well a Personal Growth experts. I am not either but I do love to see recovery and study self improvement and I work on myself everyday….I’m not perfect …doubt I will ever be but at least I am working on me!

How To Be A Man

What does it mean to be a man today?

How can men consciously express their masculinity without becoming cold or closed-hearted on the one hand… or wimpy and emasculated on the other? What’s the most loving way for a conscious man to express himself?

Here are 10 ways to live more consciously as a man:
1. Make real decisions.

A man understands and respects the power of choice. He lives a life of his own creation. He knows that life stagnates when he fails to decide and flourishes when he chooses a clear path.

When a man makes a decision, he opens the door he wants and closes the doors he doesn’t want. He locks onto his target like a guided missile. There’s no guarantee he’ll reach his target, and he knows this, but he doesn’t need such guarantees. He simply enjoys the sense of inevitability that comes from pushing the launch button.

A man doesn’t require the approval of others. He’s willing to follow his heart wherever it leads him. When a man is following his heart-centered path, it’s of little consequence if the entire world is against him.
2. Put your relationships second.

A man who claims his #1 commitment in life is his relationship partner (or his family) is either too dishonest or too weak to be trusted. His loyalties are misplaced. A man who values individuals above his own integrity is a wretch, not a free thinker.

A man knows he must commit to something greater than satisfying the needs of a few people. He’s not willing to be domesticated, but he is willing to accept the responsibility that comes with greater challenges. He knows that when he shirks that duty, he becomes something less than a man. When others observe that the man is unyieldingly committed to his values and ideals, he gains their trust and respect, even when he cannot gain their direct support. The surest way for a man to lose the respect of others (as well as his self-respect) is to violate his own values.

Life will test the man to see if he’s willing to put loyalty to others ahead of loyalty to his principles. The man will be offered many temptations to expose his true loyalties. A man’s greatest reward is to live with integrity, and his greatest punishment is what he inflicts upon himself for placing anything above his integrity. Whenever the man sacrifices his integrity, he loses his freedom… and himself as well. He becomes an object of pity.
3. Be willing to fail.

A man is willing to make mistakes. He’s willing to be wrong. He’d rather try and fail than do nothing.

A man’s self-trust is one of his greatest assets. When he second-guesses himself by worrying about failure, he diminishes himself. An intelligent man considers the prospect of failure, but he doesn’t preoccupy himself with pointless worry. He accepts that if a failure outcome occurs, he can deal with it.

A man grows more from failure than he does from success. Success cannot test his resolve in the way that failure can. Success has its challenges, but a man learns more about himself when he takes on challenges that involve risk. When a man plays it safe, his vitality is lost, and he loses his edge.
4. Be confident.

A man speaks and acts with confidence. He owns his attitude.

A man doesn’t adopt a confident posture because he knows he’ll succeed. He often knows that failure is a likely outcome. But when the odds of success are clearly against him, he still exudes confidence. It isn’t because he’s ignorant or suffering from denial. It’s because he’s proving to himself that he has the strength to transcend his self-doubt. This builds his courage and persistence, two of his most valuable allies.

A man is willing to be defeated by the world. He’s willing to be taken down by circumstances beyond his control. But he refuses to be overwhelmed by his own self-doubt. He knows that when he stops trusting himself, he is surely lost. He’ll surrender to fate when necessary, but he won’t surrender to fear.
5. Express love actively.

A man is an active giver of love, not a passive receiver. A man is the first to initiate a conversation, the first to ask for what’s needed, and the first to say “I love you.” Waiting for someone else to make the first move is unbecoming of him. The universe does not respond positively to his hesitation. Only when he’s in motion do the floodgates of abundance open.

Man is the out-breath of source energy. It is his job — his duty — to share his love with the world. He must wean himself from suckling the energy of others and become a vibrant transmitter of energy himself. He must allow that energy to flow from source, through him, and into the world. When he assumes this role, he has no doubt he is living as his true self.
6. Re-channel sex energy.

A man doesn’t hide his sexuality. If others shrink from him because he’s too masculine, he allows them to have their reaction. There’s no need for him to lower his energy just to avoid frightening the timid. A man accepts the consequences of being male; he makes no apologies for his nature.

A man is careful not to allow his energy to get stuck at the level of lust. He re-channels much of his sexual energy into his heart and head, where it can serve his higher values instead of just his animal instincts. (You can do this by visualizing the energy rising, expanding, and eventually flowing throughout your entire body and beyond.)

A man channels his sexual energy into his heart-centered pursuits. He feels such energy pulsing within him, driving him to action. He feels uncomfortable standing still. He allows his sexual energy to explode through his heart, not just his genitals.
7. Face your fears.

For a man, being afraid of something is reason enough to do it. A man’s fear is a call to be tested. When a man hides from his fears, he knows he’s fallen out of alignment with his true self. He feels weak, depressed, and helpless. No matter how hard he tries to comfort himself and achieve a state of peace, he cannot overcome his inner feeling of dread. Only when facing his fears does a man experience peace.

A man makes a friend of risk. He doesn’t run and hide from the tests of fear. He turns toward them and engages them boldly.

A man succeeds or fails. A coward never makes the attempt. Specific outcomes are of less concern to a man than his direction.

A man feels like a man whenever he faces the right way, staring straight into his fears. He feels even more like a man when he advances in the direction of his fears, as if sailing on the winds of an inner scream.
8. Honor the masculinity of other men.

When a man sees a male friend undertaking a new venture that will clearly lead to failure, what does the man do? Does he warn his friend off such a path? No, the man encourages his friend to continue. The man knows it’s better for his friend to strike out confidently and learn from the failure experience. The man honors his friend’s decision to reach out and make the attempt. The man won’t deny his friend the benefits of a failure experience. The man may offer his friend guidance, but he knows his friend must fail repeatedly in order to develop self-trust and courage.

When you see a man at the gym struggling to lift a heavy weight, do you jump in and say, “Here… let me help you with that. Maybe the two of us can lift it together”? No, that would rob him of the growth experience — and probably make a quick enemy of him as well.

The male path is filled with obstacles. It typically includes more failures than successes. These obstacles help a man discover what’s truly important to him. Through repeated failures a man learns to persist in the pursuit of worthy goals and to abandon goals that are unworthy of him.

A man can handle being knocked down many times. For every physical setback he experiences, he enjoys a spiritual advancement, and that is enough for him.
9. Accept responsibility for your relationships.

A man chooses his friends, lovers, and associates consciously. He actively seeks out the company of people who inspire and challenge him, and he willingly sheds those who hold him back.

A man doesn’t blame others for his relationship problems. When a relationship is no longer compatible with his heart-centered path, he initiates the break-up and departs without blame or guilt.

A man holds himself accountable for the relationships he allows into his life. He holds others accountable for their behavior, but he holds himself accountable for his decision to tolerate such behavior.

A man teaches others how to treat him by the relationships he’s willing to allow into his life. A man refuses to fill his life with negative or destructive relationships; he knows that’s a form of self-abuse.
10. Die well.

A man’s great challenge is to develop the inner strength to express his true self. He must learn to share his love with the world without holding back. When a man is satisfied that he’s done that, he can make peace with death. But if he fails to do so, death becomes his enemy and haunts him all the days of his life.

A man cannot die well unless he lives well. A man lives well when he accepts his mortality and draws strength from knowing that his physical existence is temporary. When a man faces and accepts the inevitability of death… when he learns to see death as his ally instead of his enemy… he’s finally able to express his true self. So a man isn’t ready to live until he accepts that he’s already dead.
How to Be a Woman?

Now who will write “How to Be a Woman”? :)

I’ll tell you what. If you can write the “How to Be a Woman” article, go ahead and post it on your site, and email me a link to it. Next week I’ll make a post linking to all the quality submissions. Erin and I will select the article we consider the most insightful, and that link will be given special prominence at the top of the results post. So basically the prize is a permanent link and free traffic.

I’ll only link to new articles I believe offer genuine value to the reader (i.e. interesting, original ideas), so don’t bother submitting a sloppily written fluff piece or an old article just to get a link. I’d rather link to 5 thoughtful articles than 50 mediocre ones. If you can write reasonably well, you should be fine.

There are no requirements for how you format such an article (you don’t have to follow the ten-item format above). You can use any personal style you like, including writing a strictly humorous piece. The main consideration is how much value and insight you deliver.

Let’s give this a deadline of about 4 days, so all submissions must be received by 7pm PST (that’s GMT-8) on Tuesday, May 13. I’ll post the results as soon as Erin and I have had sufficient time to review the submissions. I’ve never done this before, so I have no idea how many submissions we’ll get, but I imagine it will be somewhere between 1 and 50.

You don’t have to be a woman to submit a “How to Be a Woman” article, but there’s a good chance it will help.

P.S. If you happen to be offended by all or part of this article, you should be able to find plenty more articles that offend you in the Archives.

Update May 14, 2008: The “How to Be a Woman” challenge is now closed, so we’re no longer considering new submissions. 52 submissions were received – Wow! Erin and I will read through all of them, and I’ll make a summary post as soon as we’re done.motivation articles

Self Confidence Affirmations – Using Them Correctly

Self confidence affirmations can truly create a huge difference in your life. Regretfully most people who engage in this art don’t really know how to use it correctly. They spend months using false techniques only to find themselves more depressed than when they started.

Self confidence affirmations are meant to be practiced daily and turned into a routine.
Like learning to play a musical instrument, it takes time patience and trial and error. It took me months before I understood correctly how to apply them, but once I did my life changed in more ways than I can even start to explain.

So how can you use affirmations for self confidence more effectively?

Connect emotionally:

Nothing is more important than you connect emotionally to your self confidence affirmations if you cannot connect on the emotional level you should move on to another one. Sometimes trying to jump too high will result in counterproductive effects and you can measure that by the way you feel.

Practice daily:

This is immensely important if you want to make any progress with your affirmations. Practice every day and really give it all you have the prizes are worth it.
Write your own affirmations – I see many people using some affirmation list they downloaded from the internet. It is good for getting new ideas, but using affirmations you should write your own, there is something much more personal and aligned in that.

Here is a visualization process you can use for you self confidence affirmations:

1. Choose one affirmation you would like to work on

2. Read it to yourself

3. Try imagining how it feels to already have what is
written in it. Imagine yourself already confident and full of self esteem.Give it all you have for about ten minutes.

4. When you finish let it go mentally and continue with your day. Repeat this process daily for a period of at least 30 days and you will start observing positive shifts in your reality.

Self confidence affirmations can really open a door to create the strong positive person you always wanted to become. I turned within 30 days from a shy person into a very confident person full of self worth and love for life. When my feeling towards myself changed, everything in my experience started changing accordingly.

Here are some self confidence affirmations you can use to get inspiration from:

“I enjoy knowing myself worth”

“Everything I want happens easily for me, all I need to do is ask”

“I am successful and rewarded accordingly”

“I enjoy knowing that I have a whole universe orchestrating positive outcomes for me”

These are only a few of the many types of self confidence affirmations that can be used to enhance your state of being to the most positive of places.

Affirmations For Healing Short Helpful Guide

Affirmations for healing Guide:

Affirmations for healing can truly make a huge change in your life. You can move from a sick state of being into almost perfect health in a matter of no time. But to use affirmations for wealth correctly you must understand the process in which they work.

One of the biggest reasons most people fail to use affirmations and stay ill is because they have no faith in themselves. They think affirmations are sort of wishful thinking magic technique. Well, it isn’t, an affirmation is a sentence that is meant to be implanted in your subconscious mind for the purpose of replacing negative thinking patters.

Western medicine is well aware that that the mind does have huge effect on how the person feels and his state of health.

Happy positive people tend to get ill much less that pessimistic stressed out individuals. SO programming your brain to use the power of positive thinking can take your health state into a whole new level.

So how do you start practicing affirmations?

Step 1: First you must create your affirmations. The way I do it is by making a list of the things that I would like to change about myself. If you are focused on health issues write what bothers you about them.

Step 2: write the opposite of every negative sentence you wrote in the present tense. If you wrote “my back hurts all the time” write “My back feels good and limber”

Step 3: sit every day for a period of three months and work on 3 of the most important affirmations for healing you want to work on. Read every sentence to yourself and try to imagine how it would feel if it already had happened. Focus on this for 10 minutes, and then move to the next one.

Step 4: repeat this process daily, really give it all you have. After about 30 days you will start observing changes in your health state.

Step 5: After your practice sessions let the whole process go mentally and continue with your day.

If you have any trouble writing your affirmations I would advise to find a system that can better help you construct the affirmations for healing you want. It is really important that you relate to healing affirmations themselves or you will not enjoy the full effect of their abilities.

It is also important to remember that though you are using a tool to enhance your state of being, it is only a tool. The real power comes from within you; this is only meant to help you focus more on the things that you do want contrary to focusing on what you don’t want.

Affirmations for healing can change your life in more ways than you can even begin to imagine. I would advise you to start enjoying using them today!

Man, Are We Ready For A Change. How?

Title: “Are You Ready”

Eph 1:10-14
10 “that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.”
Are You Ready—are you born again? Do you have the peace of His coming or are we confessing just so we will be right? Have we really found that it is about being faithful to Him, not anything else? If you’re faithful to Him He won’t let you be unfaithful to anything else.
11 “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. “

We have a preset life of provision: Spiritually, Soully, and Physically. We MUST CHOOSE, FIND OUT HOW TO WALK IN THE WAY. So we can see His word produced in us and our lives.

13 “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

You have a friend, oh such a friend. He is a person and acts exactly like God the Father and Jesus the Son, and HE is here in us and with us. Do you really think you can get to know HIM so HE can lead and guide you into all truth? Or are you just going to use your intellect?
We have received an inheritance!!! Do we know this inheritance??

If we hope Jesus is coming later we have a problem with HIM. Do we? Do we understand what we really are and our stewardship? Knowing thoroughly Our home in Heaven and the stewardship here.

Promise

Luke 18:1-14
1 “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,”
Believing isn’t enough. We can believe and be so troubled in heart. SPEND TIME WITH GOD, HE WANTS TO SPEND TIME WITH YOU.
2 “saying: ‘There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. 3 Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ 4 And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 5 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”
6 Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. 7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
It is SAID by the Word that God will have revenge so quit sweating it and pray that they get saved. And let God also kill your own sin: your real enemy–covetousness, self-righteousness, vindication, fear, doubt. Keep your love good so you don’t become bitter. I didn’t say let sin continue but how are you operating in your heart, mixed motives? WHY DID JESUS PUT A STATEMENT THAT, “WILL THE SON OF MAN FIND FAITH ON THE EARTH?,” AFTER THIS PARABLE AND BEFORE THE NEXT ONE? WHAT IS HE SAYING IN PUTTING A STATEMENT OUT OF THE BLUE BETWEEN TWO PARABLES?
Love

Do we have that God-kind-of-faith that trusts HIM in all things!!! Having forgiveness in our hearts and HE has the judgement to bring. Do we trust HIM enough to take away our hatred! Do we trust HIM enough not to hate! Do we trust HIM enough to take away our fear, our doubt! Do we trust HIM enough not to fear!!!!

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Sometimes we want things to be so right, especially after receiving faith and tasting God’s goodness but we forget about what it takes to save and what that was to save us. WE FORGOT OR DON’T REALLY KNOW HOW MUCH THE LOVE OF GOD WAS TO US. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS TO GOD IN THIS CONSTUCT. IT’S ALL HIS CROSS AND DEATH FOR ME PERSONALLY AND LET THAT BE FOR EVERYONE ELSE. DON’T LET HATRED LIVE IN YOU, ME.
THE SPIRIT OF THE PHARISEES
1.) THEY BELIEVE IN GOD, AND ARE SURE OF IT AND HIS JUDGEMENTS.
2.) THEY BELIEVE IN THE MESSIAH, EVEN THOUGH THEY MIGHT NOT KNOW HIM FOR SURE. THEY ARE SURE OF IT.
3.) THEY BELIEVE IN THE PROMISES OF GOD AND KNOW THAT THEY ARE TRUE. AND THEY HAVE A REASONING FOR THEM TO WORK.
4.) THEY KNOW THEY ARE OF GOD AND THEY LIKE THEIR POSTION.
But the spirit of a pharisee will not deal directly with God who humbled himself. He will reject the God on a straight on Confrontation unless it’s his way. They will kill the promise of God in any area if it isn’t their way of getting it. A God who really does,(God humbles HIS OWNSELF TO LOVE AND BE WITH US).
The pharisee will not deal with being saved in whole or in an area because it doesn’t matter: I’m a pharisee, I don’t have to deal with my sin.
The pharisee believes in the promises of God but when they really, really, have to humble themselves to love God and man to receive them they will kill the promises.
The ‘Word’ says because they were afraid of their ‘Positions’ they crucified the Son of God. We think He is just a man when He says, ‘Love your Enemy’ and we Crucify Him because of our position.
The Lord gave me a WORD. HE Said, “His people are seeing His word come to their lips and then fall to the ground. And if you are tired of His word falling to the ground in your life. He said, “Don’t rule any man.” Make sure you have this in your heart.
Hebrews 11:1-6
Faith is not just believing it can be done but BELIEVING WHAT GOD SAID HE WILL DO IN YOUR LIFE!
1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.”
—-Being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality.
inheritance

3 “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. “
Faith at the Dawn of History

4 “By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.”
5 “By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him;” for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
ARE YOU DILIGENT WHEN YOU HAVE A REAL LOVE, A REAL RELATIONSHIP THAT GROWS? DO YOU HAVE THAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD? HE WANT’S ONE WITH YOU. ARE YOU DILIGENT FOR HIM OR STUFF? WHICH ONE IS IT?

If we ask for things, not from lust in our heart, we will receive them if they are acording to HIS WILL.

5 Majestic Way To Form Ideas From Zilch

In our Current World, life can get really busy and really quick. We waste a lot of time and energy running around, and also place a lot of value on our left brains – our rational minds. This will give you powerful help for ideas your can put to work right away.

In spite of all this, somewhere, bottomless in our souls, we know the significance of slowing down and connecting to our interior wisdom, connecting to our right brains – that place of profound intuition and inspiration that holds so many answers and so much richness for us.

Here is a catalog of my absolute preferred top 5 ways to really settle in and listen to the treasury of wisdom that your heart and soul has for you. None of them need to take up a lot of time or energy! Connecting to your personal wisdom can be simple and flowing. For ideas don’t come easy and quickly with no action on your part.

1) Journaling: To cut through the mind’s chitter chatter and get straight to your inner wisdom, journaling works best if you write quick, without stopping, without worrying about grammar or language, or even full sentences. The name of the game is here is to write quickly without judgement or even thought, and see what comes up for you. It helps to start with a aggressive phrase like: “I am a woman who…..” or “I am here….”

2) Dancing: I’m not talking about social dancing. This type of dancing that really connects you to your inner wisdom is done alone, or with one person watching you. Put on music that moves you, close your eyes, take a few profound breathes to feel into your body, and start moving. Be open to where the movements want to take you, and the emotions and visions that come up and out of you as you move. After you finish your movement, taking a few moments to share your experience with a partner or write your experience will help you put your inner wisdom that emerged into words.

3)Drawing: You don’t need any formal training in art whatsoever to connect to your interior wisdom through drawing. Come to the blank paper without any preconceived thinking or judgement or ideas, and draw what comes to mind. Draw how you feel. Or, ask you internal wisdom a question, and then draw it out. For example, asking a question as simple as “What do I need to know right now?” can yield rich imagery that might hold some interesting answers for you.

4) Visualization: Visualization can be as simple as closing your eyes, and calling forth your wise self. See her and and ask her questions. You’ll be surprised at what can come to light!

5) Breathing: Taking just a few minutes to sit still, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathe, can really help you to slow down, get settled, and begin to really connect with your body, to sense and feel into yourself. My suggestion is to very consciously focus on each part of your body, sending breathe to each part, and ask yourself how you feel. Become aware of where you feel open and where you feel closed. Connecting to your body in this way is a delightful opportunity to get present. For ideas are the thinks all other things come from ans with out the thought before the action nothing is all you get.

Survived A Plane Crash – Became Fearless

Fear is usually one of the most crippling and limiting things in a persons life. It can be anything like fear of spiders, fear of crowds or fear of relationships and it seems the list is just endless.

I, like most people, have a variety of fears in my life but fear of flying was never one of them.

A few years back I was going on a business trip with my business associates and we got on a plane that was taking us from Zurich to Berlin.

It was a small aircraft with one or two seats on both sides of the isle and it was raining quite heavily.

Once in the air and the complimentary tea had been served and indulged the plane suddenly started bumping and jumping a bit. Since I’d been spending a lot of time in air crafts I wasn’t concerned at all and carried on with my reading or whatever it was I was doing at the time.

Suddenly the plane was struck by lightning.

Now that woke me up in a big way and I glanced over at the flight attendant and saw her looking profoundly anxious and scared and I was equally scared and shocked.

At least for a fraction of a second.

Then everything became entirely quiet and calm and from a state of shock and frantic fear a smile suddenly emerged on my face and I felt a profound sense of being in the moment. Completely accepting my fate and I was a hundred percent convinced this was it.

My life was about to end.

I remember seeing most people on the plane being in a state of emotional chaos and fear but I also remember looking into the eyes of one of my friends on the plane and he was in the same state as me. Smiling and completely calm and accepting that death was imminent.

I also recall thinking:

“Aha, so this is it. Well I’ve had an amazing life and I’m totally ready to leave planet earth behind.”

And this was quite some time before my conscious spiritual journey ever started.

After a few more moments of mid air chaos the craft stabilized and I understood my time had not come yet and I was actually going to survive this.

There is probably a highly scientific explanation for the way I reacted having to do with endorphins and/or adrenaline being released in the bloodstream when this kind of chocking occurrence is experienced but I still think there’s an extremely important lesson to be learnt form this to reduce the crippling fear in our lives:

Completely accept whatever may happen.

In 1993 I saw a movie called Fearless that I really liked and it was actually about a similar thing where the main actor survives a plane crash and becomes completely fearless. For me it only lasted a little while and then the old fears came back but for the movie character it lasted for a prolonged time.

Many of us have a desire to control everything in our lives and then when we experience situations where we seem to lose that control anxiety often arises.

The amount of control we actually have can be discussed from a variety of standpoints such as psychological, scientific and spiritual(Law of attraction) but for instance it seems evident that even the strongest proponents of The Law Of Attraction don’t always experience only what they “want” and you probably won’t either.

James Arthur Ray’s tragic “Sweatbox” accident and Joe Vitale’s trip to Russia quickly comes to mind.

There are several different techniques to deal with feelings of fear, stress and worry and one method where I use acceptance is what I call “The Kingson Acceptance Method” and it has actually been more effective than anything else I’ve tried including Reiki Healing, Chinese Energetic Medicine, EFT and Theta Healing.

September is celebrated nationally as Recovery Month, a time to recognize the possibilities and promise of a life free from addiction. This year’s theme is “Join the Voices for Recovery; Real People, Real Recovery.”

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health for 2007 had good news and bad news. On the one hand, cocaine and methamphetamine use were down among young adults, cocaine use by one-fourth and meth by one-third. Still, one in five reported using an illicit substance the month before. Among the 12-17 age group, drug use in the month prior to the survey decreased from 9.8 percent to 9.5 percent, continuing a five-year trend. Their alcohol and tobacco use was also down.

Significantly, use by the 50-59 age group increased, suggesting that baby boomers have not given up habits started 30 and more years ago. Of 20 million people over the age of 12 who admitted using an illicit substance, the great majority reported using marijuana. The study found a direct link between illicit drug use and incidents of depression.
Millions of individuals suffering from substance abuse have found comfort and success in Twelve Step programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

The steps refer to a process whereby the individual, through attending group meetings, relentless reading, prayer and study, and with the support of a sponsor, conducts a “fearless moral inventory.” The steps include admitting one’s powerlessness over the problem, asking for help from a higher power (“God as we know him”), acknowledging wrong done to others, making amends and, finally, helping others in their own path to the better life possible through recovery.

Donna Edmonds, a 34-year-old client of the UNC Horizons Program based in Carrboro, is a Voice for Recovery. Horizons, a component of the UNC School of Medicine, provides treatment for women addicted to substances. Its support includes outpatient support groups; prenatal and postnatal OB-GYN treatment; classes in relationships, job skills, nutrition and money management; a residential program for the women and their children; and onsite day-care and other comprehensive services for the participants’ children. After years of significant cocaine use, Ms. Edmonds has experienced success with Horizons.

Ms. Edmonds wrote an essay recently about what recovery has meant to her:

“The most amazing lesson I’ve learned while on the journey of recovery is how to become a source of comfort to those around me, thanks to my sharing of the story of my addiction. When I was crushed and overwhelmed by life during active addiction, it was then I received the gift of desperation.

“No one needs to fear the trials of life. No matter how great a hardship you face, there is a Higher Power to strengthen you, making you better equipped to provide understanding and acceptance to those around you who’ve encountered the same hardships.

“Release your burdens, return to reason and normality … and you’ll find that recovery is the counselor of peace within yourself.”
