Why Is It That Most People Want To Find Success But Do Not Comprehend What It Really Is?

What is Success? We have asked that question over a few times and we get many varied interpretations and it seems that we still do not have all the right answers. We know efforts is a key ingredient.

Success according to the Dictionary:

• achievement of intentions- achievement of something planned or attempted
• something that turns out well – something planned and turned our well as intended
• fame or fortune, money

Thesaurus Definition:

• accomplishment
• achievement
• arrival
• good luck
• fortune
• fruition
• profit
• favorable outcome
• prosperous
• effective
• triumphant

We could name more terminology but we have enough to elaborate with these. I like the Thesaurus definitions because it is inclusive of more things than just something planned, money or fame. We have good fortune, good luck, favorable outcomes; we are effective and even victorious, everyday in our life. Therefore success is not something that is unattainable. It is about accomplishments, achievements and sometimes appears to be good luck. Sometimes I think people think they will never be successful because they defining success as something it is not; and they are actually achieving the definitions listed under Thesaurus in some area of their life.

I am not one to believe that success is much about good luck. Being Successful is a part of life that you get the consequences of your labor. Success is about your plans, what you seek and how hard you strive to accomplish your desires. You work toward something, not to the finish line as it takes time to get there; if there is a finish. It is said that Success if a Journey. If one makes reasonable goals and if you work toward achieving them, they should be achievable, one at a time. Of course we individuals desire to have more wealth; and live well but that is not the essence of really living well. This is not all bad by any means, but it is not the most important approach to becoming successful. There are times that we do not reach what we set out to; these are the times we have back up and start over and find what did not work and possibly why.

The essence of living well is living within our financial abilities and feeling good about where we are. It seems when people get into trouble it is because they have reached beyond what they can afford. Success is about fruition….fulfillment, which can mean that we are fulfilled intensely and are happy with our life. Success is making sure we have our priorities straight. We know that Success consist of many areas of our life; not just in the financial or career area.

If success could be fully achievable all at some point; we would see people saying; okay, I have all it all, I don’t need anything further. I am done, now I can sit back and relax.

I do not believe that success transpires like this. I believe that success is something we walk toward, strive at, keep reaching for in all areas of our life and receive it slowly. In other words; we finally get the kids in college, we finally have them graduate, we have the college education paid for, we have our house paid for, we are going on that dream vacation and someone is working toward being VP of my company. Success is accomplishment we reach for one step at a time. Each one is a victory which has come from hard work and dedication.

Success is not all about getting to be the President of Google. It is about getting to where we are appeased with our progress toward our goals within our family, our friends, our faith and our careers. It is not all about wealth.

Powerful Success Motivation

Success does not come to us accidentally just because we are walking the face of the earth. It does not take aprofessorto discern that. It is accomplished only by work, dedication and perseverance. Not anyone that I know who has a Successful Life has sat on their backside and done nothing. Successful Living is not all about a career, it can be a marriage, personal development, managing a career and family, or just trying to make life better in general. There must be some thought given to it, a need, a plan, and a goal and then the action. Very few people are born successful and even if everything seems grand today, it could go into reverse tomorrow. Dad can give you the highest position in the Company but if you did not earn it, it will not bring about the fulfillment of starting at the bottom and working up, unless of course; you are lazy. Sorry, had to throw that in. We may think we have the greatest personality, but someone else may see us as needing some kind of adjustment in our personal growth. Your marriage may be divine, yet you may need to check in with your loved oneevery now and then to make sure they are having the same feelings.

There are Successful Characteristics that we must have and use to become the best that we can be in our life. Everything in our life is descriptive of our thoughts. Our mind and our inner spiritual self, influence everything we do. We all do have some kind of spiritual self. Look for it…it may help you more than you know. We must be sensitive to our surroundings and know that every aspect of our life has its proper place. Our Successful Thoughts can lead us into many directions, they caninduce the positive or the negative but if we work at it; success may be obtained quite naturally. We not only have to work on our plan of action, with a list of goals and intent but we have to work on the mental plan.

The first steps toward obtainingsuccess is ignited in the mind, some call it dreams, others call it constructive thinking and a lot times, it is out of necessity, but in any instance; it has to be a desire from within. There are some people who are contented where they are. They do not necessarily think about trying to improve anything unless something seems broken and if they need an adjustment some where. Successful living is what everyone dreams about; no worries, no financial issues, no health problems and a wonderful family. Everybody’s dream, right? We know that life is just not that perfect nor do we have a Successful Life just by wanting it. We have to assess what our needs are and proceed with caution, yet without anxiety .

As a general rule when we start the conversation about Success or Successful Living; we automatically start thinking about our career. I conclude that it is justifiable, because this is where we find the means to make our personal life comfortable. Money nor career can heal all things. It cannot heal a broken heart, it will not replace a lost family or friend and it does notguarantee anyone happiness. In fact it has been know that high profile careers sometimes damage family life forever. There must be a balance and sometimes that balance is what people search for on the road to finding complete Life SuccessThat is a knowledge that everyone must know.

To begin we must have Success Goals, a plan, an angle, an approach and a blueprint. The builder, who builds the perfect house, has a blueprint. To get to the finished project, he takes the blueprint one step at a time. He starts with the foundation, the layout with the plumbing, and then the outside walls and roof are put on. The walls and ceiling within are net, then the fixtures, then the paint and then the flooring. Bam the house is livable and ready for occupancy. No, that is not every detail and it is not that simply and nor is life. We have things that need fixing, walls that sometimes must be torn down and replaced because someone was unhappy with the way things looked.

It will take us first believing we have a need for a plan, plans sometimes must be changed for one reason or another. We place the priorities first. We know we need a foundation to start with and if we do not have a sound foundation, the plan can get annihilated at the first drift of negative emotions from ourselves or someone else. A sound foundation is only the start but it is at least a start.

Finding satisfaction from Successful living is conceivable at any stage in life, really. I say that it isn’t too late until we die, then they can push the dirt on me and I am done. Until then, let me sing my song, write my articles and learn whatever I can from others and in so doing find a way to share some thoughts of my own.

Pursuing What Brings Success For Our Life

Most of us know that Success is like anything else, it is not free and we have to work toward it. We must take it seriously and there are certain keys to unlock the potential within each individual. We all have it, possibility, that is. What is potential exactly? It is ability, aptitude, capability and capacity. We all have some cut of ability, aptitude, and capability. It may not be in the exact amounts but we have these things in some measure. Achievement in life doesn’t have to be about being successful at work. It is about our life in general. If we desire good things, we act in a way for good to be created from our actions. If we desire great things, we make the necessary efforts to make sure we start the process to these greater things.

Success is not just about money. Wealth is an added infringement to working smart and hard. We must work to progress in our endeavors which take up less time, produce more quality and provide quantity and this can mean even in our efforts to accomplish a better home life with valuable together time. Goals can’t be measured in dollars and cents. In other words; it not all about the money.

If we are to recognize we have Success in Life and know how to accomplish a task or a project within a group or alone for that matter; there is a certain amount of Knowledge we must bring into our efforts. What is harmony: balance, conformity, consistency, and articulation are a few explanations. With harmony we find consistency and cooperation for our pursuits. We find with harmony it is easier to have the meeting of the minds. Expressing and maintaining harmony in our life is a powerful tool when we go within our spiritual consciousness. It can open up unexpected opportunity, expansion, joy and an ability to go higher in knowledge. With understanding we have an ability to work in peace, tranquility and have better working relationships with which we are working instead of disaster that sometimes exist. The person in control of, a project, a plan of action, business plan, any kind of plan or meeting; must bring to the table the overall ambiance of the how things are to play out. If you want to have a distinctive ability to know how to direct people, you must have certain characteristics to include: harmony, calmness, stability, self confidence and most of all the ability to judge the character of your audience.

When we realize that Success is not totally about wealth, meaning money; we begin to know its real value. We start then to examine what might be missing within our life that is not about money, wealth or fame. We then possess the ability to take charge of the good and let go of the bad and begin to work in a more constructive approach to all of our life pursuits.

Seeing As Change Is Inevitable, Why Not Embrace It?

The issue with change is not so much what we think of change, but rather how we react to change. In all honesty, there are probably few words that throw up such a kaleidoscope of emotions and differing interpretations for us.

In some ways, change is exciting. We all want our lives to improve, after all, there is no progress without change. However, the word also holds some very negative connotations.

If you look up synonyms for ‘changeable’ you will find words such as: ‘volatile’, ‘uncertain’, ‘unsettled’, ‘unstable’. All of those can make us feel ‘insecure’, ‘vulnerable’ and ‘unsure’.

There is a part of us which likes to feel secure and safe and change clearly goes against that. However, after change has occurred, we very often call it ‘progress’, ‘evolution’, ‘advancement’ or ‘growth’; words which bring out far more positive emotions from within us.

Therefore, it appears that it is not change itself that scares us so much as the transition process that it entails. We like the stability of things as they are ‘now’. Now feels safe because we know what to expect.

Perhaps it is not change that we fear so much as the loss of control that we associate with change. Change inherently carries an element of risk. Sometimes that fear, that perceived risk, is so daunting that it prevents us making changes that we need to despite our unhappiness with our current situation.

At the other end of the scale, there are times when we have probably all been guilty of making changes just for the sake it. We change our hair color, we change the layout of our bedroom, we may even change jobs.

I used to change jobs every 4 months, as I couldn’t find the ‘right job’ for me. At some level, I believed that when I found the ‘right job’ I would be happy. However, it was then pointed out to me that you can move to the moon if you want but nothing will really change because you are still taking ‘You’ with you.

Why do we do that? We do it to distract ourselves from making the changes in our life that really matter. In reality, it might be our choice of career that is making us unhappy, but we will change the color of our hair ‘just to make ourselves feel better’, because that is an ‘easy change’.

Seeing as change is inevitable, why not embrace it, analyze it and use it? Use it as an opportunity to measure what your life, and course correct. Seize change as your key to success. How else are we going to grow?

As a final point, I will give you a quote by Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

The 6 Rules For Success!

Success in life has rules just like everything else in life. If there is hot there is cold if there is sadness then there is joy. If there is poverty then there is rosperity. Recognizing that everything in the universe has a set of criteria that defines it makes everything understandable and achievable. Success is no different. I have compiled six guideliness for prosperity that can be utilized by anyone with the desire to achieve.

Rule #1
Potential

The First rule required for success is to recognize that you have the potential to achieve more in life in any area you choose have picked to focus your attention. Too many human beings sell themselves short. Most of us have not even begun to tap our true potential in life. Only when we recognize that we are capable of more, will we then move forward and achieve more.

Make a list of all your strengths and your faults/weaknesses. STOP HERE and do not read on till you have made your list!

Which list was easier for you to create? If you said your weaknesses, then you are like most individuals who do not focus on what they CAN do, they focus on what they cannot. If your lists were equal, then you have reached the stage where at least you can see what you have and what you have yet to perfect. If you say your strengths, then you have learned to recognize your potential OR you have a tendency to next accept that you have faults. Careful of the second, we all have areas that we need to improve upon. Being able to recognize them is also strength. By the way, for the first group, was that strength on your list?? I bet it was not.

Rule #2
Selflessness

One of the things that the universe also teaches is that in order to receive, you have to give. You cannot have fire without first creating a form of heat. You cannot have money without effort of some sort. Many criminals will tell you that money gained without any effort rarely has value. Easy come… so it is easy go and go it will! So what does this have to do with selflessness? Our universe fills voids. For example, to get rid of an old habit, I must replace it with a healthy one. I just can’t eliminate the bad habit. The bad habit met some need of mine and if it is not replaced, then once again, the need is not being met. If the need is not being met, the habit will either reappear or another habit (good or bad) will replace it.

If you apply this to success, then to receive you must give. What you give may vary; it might be your time, money or creativity. Many business people will tell you that you cannot make money without spending money. The basic precept is true, but you can make money without money if you have something to give in exchange. But Zig Ziglar had the precept down to a science, “I find success by helping others to find success.” I have found this precept to be true time after time. My biggest successes whether they were monetary or just personal joy have been when someone else achieved. MLM’s are built on this precept. The upline is only successful if the downline is successful. This is a forced version of a basic law of the universe. What you want in life, you must give away. Monetary compensation will follow if you learn to truly apply the law of selflessness.

Rule #3
Allowance

Allowance, what does that have to do with success? Ever ‘try’ to do something? Let us do an experiment. Drop an item of the floor and ‘try’ to pick it up. Okay, is it in your hand? Yes? Well then, you failed. I did not tell you to pick it up. I told you to try. Yoda from Star wars told Luke, do or do not. That precept is as basic as it gets. You cannot force success or life. We do not make the sun rise, it just does. The same applies to success. You cannot ‘try’ to get it, and you cannot force it. You must allow it to come to you through your daily efforts. The path of least resistance is always followed by nature for a reason. When energy is expended in a direction contrary to its nature, then there is no energy left for accomplishment. In the human experience, it is not uncommon to see businessmen frantically going about their day with high stress and no joy. They are so busy ‘trying’ for success that they cannot enjoy their own prosperity. Their family might enjoy the prosperity but often this forced effort is not enjoyed and often leads to medical consequences such as high blood pressure and heart attacks. Live life to the fullest every day. Live it to your potential. Success will follow. It has to follow because it is a basic law.

One note here: Define what success to you is. Is it a dollar amount? Freedom? Time? What is it and how will you know if you have achieved it? Once you have achieved it, then what?

Rule #4
Goals

The last note leads to the next rule. You must have goals. You do not get in a car normally and drive aimlessly. You have a destination in mind. You may need maps to get there. Depending on how far you are going, you might even have to plan stops, expenses and meals. Life is no different. A life without any goals is a life wandered and lived aimlessly. Your goals do not have to be mine. Your goal might be as simple as a small boat on the lake on warm sunny weekends and mine might be to fly into space before I leave this life. It does not matter how small or how extravagant, a life must have goals.

Make a dream board or book. This is a pictorial reference with notes of everything you want in life. Everything you want to do, see, have or be. Look at it often! Keep your goals in mind. Have at least one you are working towards at any given moment and mark it on your board or in your book. Then break that goal down into achievable and measurable steps. Let’s say my goal is to get promoted. I go and sit down with my boss and flat out ask. What do you need to see in me or what do I need to improve to get a promotion down the road. I take the list from my boss. It might be education, experience or even just showing that I have invested myself into the company. Next, break the goal down into achievable, measurable and time focused steps. For example, let’s say one thing I needed was better communication skills. I might set a date to join toastmasters, or a date to start a class at the local college to improve those skills.

Whatever you dream of should be in your book. Whatever you plan to actually work on should be your goals. Each goal should have ladder like steps to measure progress. If you miss a date, do not give up the goal. Go back and ask yourself was my timeline realistic? If it was, did I procrastinate anywhere? Identify what delayed your progress and rectify it. Once that is done, set a new achievement date and keep on going. We only fail in life when we give up!

Rule #5
Let Go!

Once you set your goal, – let it go. Do not spend every day measuring your progress. Even in dieting they tell you to only weigh in once a week. It is the same with your goals. Pick a day of the week to figure out if you achieved your weekly goals and set new ones. Once that session of self-evaluation is done, then let it go! Live each day to the fullest. Remember the law of selflessness. Give of your time and your energy but trust that the outcome will occur as long as you are not trying to force it. Each time you force your goals, they no longer bring any satisfaction in the bigger picture because often basic building blocks of the foundation are not strong. It may look like you are making progress only to have it crumble near the top. Just trust in whatever higher power you have and move forward.

Rule #6
Purpose

I have a solid belief that everyone has purpose. If your chosen goals do not bring you happiness, you are contrary to your purpose. If your job is something you dread going to, it is not in line with your purpose. Now in this economy, I am not suggesting that you throw in the towel and quit your job. But what I am suggesting is that while you have that job, you start looking elsewhere. Do not think that winning the lottery will solve the problem if you are still not living to your potential (rule 1) and your purpose. More than one affluent person has committed suicide, been throw multiple marriages and so on. They are not happy, because they are not at purpose. Everything in this universe has a purpose. What is yours? You will know it when you find it. You could be out under the sun and sweating profusely and there will be a smile on your face if you are aligned with your purpose.

Living these six rules in life is difficult. I am not going to hint that they are not. Sometimes, I forget to look at my dream board and lose focus. How about you? Sometimes, I do not let go and try to force results only to spend money I should not have or energy that is wasted. How about you? Sometimes, I try to rush to the end of a goal and do not lay out a path that will actually get me there. How about you? Sometimes, I am my own worst enemy and cite to myself every possible fault I have and reason why I will not achieve a goal and forget I have strengths. How about you?

What I can tell you is when these six rules are in line in my life. I am happy. I do not worry about money. I do not dread getting up in the morning. My alarm clock, like Zig Ziglar often says, becomes my “opportunity clock.” Someday, and it IS in my dream book, I will live all six daily because with that day, comes not only success, but happiness!
