If you smoke almost a pack of cigarettes a day then most of the parts of your body will be affected with the chemicals found in the cigarettes when you smoke. Let’s enumerate all the reasons how smoking affects our human body.

Let us start from the top, the mouth. When you smoke your mouth can be affected because you will have a greater risk to have cancer of the mouth. Then the smoke can also affect you by giving you gum disease, bad breath and tooth decay. Not to forget the teeth will become yellow and you will experience frequent headaches. It can also affect your blood vessels by narrowing the pathways that supply blood to the brain and can cause strokes.

Then let us move down to the chest area, when you do not stop smoking the chemical you inhale enters your body and will pass down through the bronchi and the lining of your bronchi will be greatly affected. Then because the bronchus is already weakened you will most likely suffer from bronchial infections. Smokers have a greater risk of having lung cancer than those who do not smoke.

This is because cigarette contains carcinogens that are excreted in the urine where the presence of these substances can cause bladder cancer. This habit also affects the stomach lining or duodenum, the first part of the small intestine. But the exact cause of peptic ulcer is unknown but it is said to be linked to smoking. Some experts say that ulcers caused by smoking are less likely to heal than those ulcers experienced by non-smokers.

You can always measure how can smoking effects your body and these should scare you to quit now. For women who smokes they can also be affected and have a higher risk of cervical cancer and if a woman is pregnant, it can also cause harmful risk to their unborn babies.

The good news is when you quit smoking your body begins to repair by itself. Those who stop smoking until cancer or any chronic obstructive pulmonary disease took place can have the chance to recover and live a healthier life.
